At ScarboroSmiles, we believe that creating healthy smiles goes beyond the dental chair—it starts with building a strong, supportive community. We are dedicated to serving the Scarborough community not just as healthcare providers, but as active neighbours, volunteers, and mentors.
We are committed to giving back through local initiatives, educational mentorship, and active volunteerism. We believe in leading by example to make a positive impact on the lives of those around us. This spirit of service has always been at the heart of our practice!
Volunteer Recognition
In 2025, Dr. Isabel Cumandra was the recipient of the G. Raymond Chang Outstanding Volunteer Award. She was honoured for her exceptional commitment to community service and volunteerism.
Our Community Commitments
Holiday Food Drive
During the month of December, we hold a food drive to help support families in need during the holiday season.
With the constant help of our ScarboroSmiles community, we are able to send several boxes of food as well as cash donations.
Thanks to all of you who help make this drive a success every year!
Annual
Clothing Drive for
Local Shelters
Year after year, we remain committed to helping those in need within our community. To support this mission, we hold an annual clothing drive during the colder months.
We accept new or gently used coats, sweaters, boots, hats, gloves, and children's clothes to donate directly to local shelters.
Dental Health
Outreach
We remained committed to supporting the health and dignity of our community’s most vulnerable members.
To support this mission, we undertook a dedicated oral hygiene initiative.
We provided dental appliances, toothbrushes, and toothpaste to support homeless individuals and men enrolled in the abstinence program at the Birkdale Residence.
Raffle for a Cause
Our community came together for an exciting raffle draw to support local youth. All proceeds collected were matched and doubled by ScarboroSmiles.
The total donation was gifted to the Boys and Girls Club of East Scarborough, ON.
We appreciate everyone who took part in helping us support this vital community organization!
Early Dental Care
Education &
Brush-A-Mania
Our team is passionate about dental education. Dr. Isabel, joined by assistants Shireen and Peaches, visited a local school to celebrate the annual Brush-A-Mania event.
This initiative was made possible thanks to the Scarborough Rotary Passport Club. We appreciate their support in sponsoring the event and supplying dental kits to the students, helping us make a lasting impact on the community's health.

Our Local Athletes
We love supporting our patients outside the office, too! A big congratulations goes out to the Pickering girls' soccer team.
They played an amazing season while representing ScarboroSmiles on the field. We are so proud of their hard work and team spirit!
Mentoring at

Education is a big part of who we are. We are proud to offer shadowing programs for students during the summer months.
We love giving aspiring dental professionals the chance to observe real patient care in a supportive environment.
By sharing our knowledge and daily experiences, we hope to inspire a new generation of dentists who value skill, ethics, and compassion just as much as we do.

Dr. Isabel served as a clinical instructor at the University of Toronto. She enjoyed mentoring students and helping them develop their clinical skills.
Her passion for teaching was recognized when her class voted her one of the best instructors of the year, highlighting her passion for guiding the next generation of dentists.
