Types of Dental Bridges at ScarboroSmiles
We know that every person's mouth is different! That's why we offer a few different kinds of dental bridges. Each type is special and has its own benefits.
Traditional bridges are the most common. They use crowns on the teeth next to the gap to hold a false tooth (or teeth) in the middle. These work great when you have healthy teeth on both sides of the missing tooth.
Cantilever bridges are used when you only have a healthy tooth on one side of the gap. The bridge attaches to just one tooth instead of two.
Maryland bridges (also called resin-bonded bridges) use a metal or porcelain frame that bonds to the back of your natural teeth. These are less invasive because we don't need to reshape your natural teeth as much.
Implant-supported bridges are the strongest option. Instead of attaching to your natural teeth, these bridges attach to dental implants that are placed in your jawbone. These work best when you're missing several teeth in a row.
Our experienced dentists will look closely at your mouth, may take X-ray pictures, and discuss the best bridge option for you. We'll help you pick the very best type and treatment plan to replace your missing teeth perfectly, so your smile looks good and works great!
